After Preview comes Question, the second step in Larry Chiang’s PQRST prep method. Question means walking into a meeting already knowing which parts of your own material you are fuzzy on. Larry’s version of this is specific: flag your weak points before anyone else finds them for you.

Most people prepare by rehearsing what they already know well, which feels productive but skips the actual risk. The risk sits in the gaps, the numbers you would stumble on if someone asked you to defend them cold. Question is the step where you write those gaps down, on paper, before the meeting starts.
It turns a vague sense of “I should double check that” into an actual list. That list is what you take into the Read step next.
In the video linked below, Larry talks through how he flags his own fuzzy points before walking into a room. The habit is uncomfortable on purpose, since nobody enjoys writing down what they don’t know.
A flagged gap is a gap you can close before it costs you the room. An unflagged one just waits for the other side to find it first.
