Nine Cards, Nine Dollars, One Goal

Larry says he keeps a stack of nine blank note cards, bought for around nine dollars, sitting in his bag at all times. The number is not the point, the readiness is: no excuse for skipping a thank-you because you could not find a card. Nine dollars is closer to his own buy a book for fourteen, sell it for sixteen logic than to a marketing budget.

Nine Cards, Nine Dollars, One Goal

It is a small, deliberate spend that produces a return nowhere near proportional to the cost, which is the whole idea behind his business model thinking. Each card in the stack has one goal: reinforce a relationship right after a meeting, while the moment is still worth reinforcing. There is no upsell folded into the card, no ask buried in the thank-you, just the note doing its one job.

Larry treats this kit the way other people treat a business card holder: cheap, always on hand, embarrassing to run out of. The system only works if you actually restock it, so the nine-card pack becomes a habit, not a one-time purchase.

In the clip below he talks through why he bothers with a physical card instead of a text message. A paper note in a bag costs less than a coffee and still outperforms most people’s follow-up entirely.

If you want to borrow the system, buy a small pack of cards today, not after your next meeting when you will forget. One goal, one card, sent fast: that is the entire mechanism, and it does not need to be more complicated than that.
