The Waitlist as Proof and Leverage

A waitlist is not a sign nobody could get in, in Larry’s telling it is proof that demand outran supply on purpose. Selling access before it exists is the same move as his rule to sell it first and then go make it. Every name added to the list is a small, low-friction commitment that the offer is worth waiting for.

The Waitlist as Proof and Leverage

That list becomes leverage the moment you show a new prospect how many people are already waiting ahead of them. A long waitlist lets Larry raise the price for the next open spot without having to argue for it, the list argues for him. It also filters out people who were never serious, since a serious buyer will give their name and email to hold a place.

Larry does not let a waitlist sit idle, he uses PQRST to prepare a real pitch before he ever opens the list back up. Converting a name on a list into a paying client still requires attacking the money directly and asking for the check.

A waitlist with no follow-up plan is just a spreadsheet of missed conversations. Proof and leverage only work together if the list is actually acted on within days of opening, not months later.

Scarcity that is faked gets noticed fast, scarcity that is real, because supply is genuinely capped, holds up under questions. The waitlist’s real value is not the number on it, it is what that number lets you say to the next person you are pitching.
