The Thank-You Card Ritual at the Table

Every Klub dinner now ends the same way, five minutes of quiet while everyone writes one thank-you card by hand before they leave the table. Larry’s karma framework treats this as a mechanic, not a nicety, thank fast, forgive fast, tip well, reciprocate before the moment cools off. Larry says a single thank-you note is what got Nike on board as a sponsor, and whether that story is exact in every detail or not, the habit behind it still holds up.

The Thank-You Card Ritual at the Table

The rule at the table is specific, name one thing the person actually did, not a generic thanks for coming. Cards go out the same night, mailed or handed off in person, never left in a bag to be forgotten by the weekend. A few members resisted the ritual at first, calling it slow in a group built around speed reading rooms and rehearsing pitches.

The counterargument that won them over was simple, karma is trackable the same way a pipeline is trackable, so treat it with the same discipline. Writing by hand at the table also keeps the pen in play, the same pen from Larry’s SuperModel drills, now doing a different job.

One member’s card led to a follow up coffee that turned into real work, which the group now cites as proof the ritual pays for itself. Not every card gets a reply, and the Klub is fine with that, since the point is the habit, not a guaranteed return on each one.

The ritual also closes the night on a specific note instead of a vague one, which makes the whole dinner easier to remember clearly. Five minutes of handwriting, once a session, is a small enough cost that nobody in the Klub has a good excuse to skip it.
