Larry Chiang does not look at his calendar as a schedule, he looks at it as a training plan. Every meeting on the list is a rep, and reps are how PQRST prep and the calm body in SuperModel actually get built, not talked about. He fills the calendar first with rooms that already have people in them, his External API instinct, rather than rooms he would have to build from nothing.

Austin Tech Week, running October 26 through 30, 2026 out of Capital Factory on Brazos Street, is the kind of stacked room Larry would put straight on the calendar because the crowd is already assembled. The same logic applies to a hotel lobby during a conference or a packed week around a festival: the room did the marketing, you just have to show up prepared. Larry treats each entry as a chance to run PQRST again: preview the people, question what he does not know yet, read whatever material exists, summarize it, test his answers before the meeting tests them.
A calendar built this way front-loads the hard conversations instead of letting them pile up at the end of the month. It also keeps him honest about house money, because a full calendar of real meetings is what actually funds the 70/20/10 cushion, not hope.
Larry’s version of training is not a gym metaphor, it is literal: the meeting on Tuesday makes the meeting on Thursday easier. Skipping a week off the calendar, in his framing, is the same as skipping a training block, you lose ground you do not notice losing.
He says the karma side of this matters too, since a calendar full of reps is also a calendar full of chances to say thank you and mean it. Larry’s claim is that nobody gets calm in the room by accident, they got calm because the calendar made them do the rep enough times.
