Web 4 Is Older Than Web 1: Larry’s Numbering Is a Provocation

Larry throws around terms like Web 4 and Web 5, and the numbers are a joke on purpose.

He will tell you Web 4 is older than Web 1, which sounds like nonsense until it clicks.

The numbers are not a version history, they are a provocation to make you think.

Web 4, in his framing, is the digital dollar: your ability to accept inbound money.

A wire, a check, a transfer, a way for money to reach you is older than any website.

That plumbing existed long before the World Wide Web did.

So in that sense, yes, the money layer predates Web 1.

The point is not the label, it is the reminder to get paid.

A beautiful site that cannot accept money is a hobby.

A plain page that can take a wire is a business.

Larry uses the silly numbering to drag your attention back to the cash.

Do not argue the version number, just make sure money can find you.
