Sleep Like the Deal Depends On It

Sleep is the one habit in Larry’s routine that isn’t really optional, everything else in SuperModel depends on it working. The perfect listening position, the steady hands, the pen-drop close held in silence, none of it survives five hours of sleep two nights in a row. Larry says he protects his sleep the same way he protects a signed letter of intent, as something you don’t casually renegotiate.

Sleep Like the Deal Depends On It

That’s his description of his own priorities, not a universal claim, but the reasoning is easy to follow: a tired closer is a worse closer. A high-ticket dinner that runs into hour four, the kind Larry plans around, is brutal on someone running on a sleep deficit. PQRST assumes you can actually Read and Summarize the material, and both of those get worse fast on too little sleep.

House money logic says build the cushion before you need it, and a full night of sleep is the cushion you spend the next day. A closer who is exhausted starts making concessions just to end the meeting sooner, which is the opposite of negotiating from strength.

Karma also takes a hit when you’re depleted, a rushed, low-energy thank you doesn’t land the same way a genuine one does. Larry’s line is that he’d rather push a meeting back a day than walk in running on fumes and underprice the room.

Nobody can fake alertness for four straight hours, eventually the tired version of you shows up and the other side sees it. Treat sleep like the deal depends on it, because most of the time, it actually does.
